A multifaceted piece of technology, the 3D body scanner allows for the collection of over 240 body measurements in seconds. However, the collection of body measurements is only the initial benefit of this technology, as many industries including health, fitness, and retail, are taking advantage of this exciting new technology.

For instance, Dr. McQuerry uses the body scanner to measure the anthropometrics of female firefighters for improved fit and functionality in the design of new PPE products. Her work also assesses the correlation between garment ease, as measured utilizing the body scanner, and thermal insulation collected using ANDI in the ThermaNOLE Comfort Lab®. This work led to the collection of the first and largest U.S. female firefighter anthropometric database.
